More and more people are switching on to the huge benefits of e-bikes. Go further, ride for longer, see more beautiful scenery… and still get a great work-out. What’s not to love?
Bringing Trek to E-Venture Bikes means we have now unlocked some of the best e-bikes out there, whether you like riding rocky trails, riverside paths, urban landscapes or smooth tarmac.
Today, we’re diving into the world of Trek electric bikes, exploring their features, benefits and why they’re a fantastic choice for riders of all kinds. Here’s why you should seriously consider joining the e-bike revolution.
A brief Introduction to Trek electric bikes
Trek has been making e-bikes for the mass market since 2010. Over time, the technology that separates electric bikes from what we call their “acoustic” equivalents has become more reliable and more affordable. Now you can buy an entry level Trek machine like the District+ 1 Lowstep (below) from E-Venture Bikes for as little as £1,820.

Trek e-bikes combine the latest in technology with the brand’s renowned craftsmanship to deliver an unparalleled riding experience. Whether you’re commuting to work, exploring rugged trails or enjoying leisurely rides through the countryside, Trek electric bikes offer versatility, comfort and outstanding performance.
Where are Trek electric bikes made?
Trek electric bikes are designed and engineered in the USA, with manufacturing facilities around the world to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
How good are Trek electric bikes?
Trek’s electric bikes are renowned for their exceptional quality, reliability and innovation. There are lower cost e-bikes out there and even kits that will add an electric boost to an acoustic bike. However, buying a Trek e-bike gives you the best in innovation and creative design, combined with exceptional build quality, giving you a better riding experience on a bike that will last longer.
Trek also partners with the best component manufacturers, so you know your e-bike is powered by a reliable motor and battery combination from the likes of Bosch and TQ, with brakes and gears from SRAM and Shimano. Not only do they work brilliantly but they’re more durable too.
Why go electric?
There are pros and cons to electric bikes. Some purists say you don’t feel the ride in the same way as with an acoustic bike. Others reckon you get a better work-out without electric assist. There’s also the affordability element as e-bikes inevitably cost more like for like.

These reasons not to go electric are diminishing over time as the technology matures and becomes more affordable. Trek have also developed bikes, like the Fuel EXe (above), which are lighter and deliver power in a natural-feeling way, so you do experience the ride much more like you do on a normal bike.
Then there’s the fact that e-bikes still require your pedalling input so you can select a lower-powered mode and keep your exercise going for two or three hours in a medium heart rate zone. This means a great, long-lasting cardiovascular work-out which will do the average cyclist more good than a lung-bursting hour climbing steep hills under your own steam.
The pros and cons
Here are some more of the benefits of embracing electric bikes:
- Effortless riding: Say goodbye to steep hills and headwinds as electric assist technology makes pedalling a breeze. You can also change power modes if you do want more of a workout.
- Extended range: With the assistance of an electric motor, you can explore further and conquer longer distances with less fatigue.
- Health and fitness: Electric biking allows riders of all fitness levels to enjoy outdoor activities and reap the health benefits of cycling.
- Eco-friendly: Reduce emissions and contribute to a cleaner environment by choosing electric transportation.
However, it’s essential to consider the following cons too:
- Initial investment: Electric bikes typically come with a higher upfront cost compared to traditional bicycles.
- Maintenance: There’s more to think about because of the motor and battery components.
- Weight: Electric bikes are heavier due to the additional motor and battery, which may affect handling and manoeuvrability.
Can you convert a Trek bike into an electric?
Yes, but we don’t recommend it. While it’s technically possible to convert a traditional Trek bike into an electric one using aftermarket conversion kits, our advice is to invest in a purpose-built Trek electric bike for optimal performance and reliability. The e-bike experience offered by these kits is a pale imitation of riding a real e-bike.
